TEXT: Prov 19:11
“A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense”
To rise above offense means to take no notice of wrongs done against oneself. It is to refuse to retaliate or seek revenge. It is to let offence go. In summary, it is to forgive. Patience and self-control are listed as part of the fruits of the Spirit, (Gal. 5:22-23). They are an essential part of the Christian life style because they help in rising above offences. Our responses are to be reasonable and measured. We should increasingly grow in our ability to control ourselves when angry and overlook offenses when we can. Please remember, that Jesus in you can draw a lot of attacks from the enemy. People will hate you just because you are a Christian. They will slander you, simply because you pray more than them. However, Jesus goes on to tell those of us in that situation not to take any offence. Matt25:12. And encourages us to rejoice. Oh, and not just rejoice but to be glad. If someone's words can pull you down, then that means their words have more power over you than the words of Christ in your heart. Our goal is to control our expression of anger, overlook an offence and still go ahead to do good to the offender regardless of the offence. You have been able to look past the offence when you can freely pray for the offender and wish him/ her well.
PRAYER POINTS
Heavenly Father, thank You that l am created in Your image.
I have Your DNA; I can forgive as You have forgiven.
Help me not to be easily offended and easily angered.
Help Christlike Assembly members not to live in the flesh but supernaturally in the fullness and freshness of your Spirit.
Help Mama Rev. Mrs. Odunayo Joshua Ketiku and her children to continually live in the freedom of your love and forgiveness in Jesus name.
