TEXT: JUDE 1:3
We Christians are to be faithful to Christ. We are therefore placed under obligation to “contend for the faith” that God delivered to us His children. The faith rests on the gospel proclaimed by Christ Jesus. It is the fixed and unalterable truth given by the Holy Spirit and in the scriptures.
Faith is more than objective truth. It is also a way of life to be lived in love and purity! Contend describes the battle that faithful believers must fight in the defence of the faith. Contend is to struggle, suffer, be under great stress or “fight a fight”.
We must exert ourselves to the utmost in the defence of God’s word and our faith in it. This may be costly and agonizing. Contending for the faith means we take our Commitment to Christ and His church seriously enough to take firm action whenever it is needed. Contending for the faith is all about guarding our heart diligently so as not to allow anything to distort our faith. We must know that God’s Kingdom on earth is at war with the devil’s kingdom and we must fight to establish God’s Kingdom on earth anywhere we find ourselves. God’s Kingdom is His established system of living. Jesus came down to earth and died so we could be partakers of His divine Nature. Anything out of tune with that is to be rejected.
PRAYERS :
O merciful Lord, I ask for the forgiveness of every sin that can hinder my prayers especially where I have allowed the activities of the wicked to prosper. Holy Spirit open my eyes of understanding. Give me more revelation about the seed of life. I decree Your light upon Your Servant Mama Odunayo Joshua and her children.
Amen.
