HYPOCRISY IS DEADLY

SCRIPTURE:
Matt 23:13. “But woe unto you, scribes and pharisees, hypocrites! For ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in”.

Hypocrisy is a common theme in the Bible. Jesus made several statements about hypocrisy against the pharisees but one of the most well-known statements He gave is from the sermon on the mount and it is for all of us. "How can you say to your brother, let me take the speck out of your eyes, when there is the log in your own eye?

You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye” Evils of Hypocrisy”

1). It elevates Self. It is a Symbol of pride. It boosts self-righteousness.

2). It shows there is a “me” that people must not see. It is living a double life.

3). Once it is exposed, it can lead to withdrawal because of shame and could be suicidal.

4). A hypocritical person Looses respect when found out.

5). The underlying issue of hypocrisy is Fear. Fear is the enemy of faith. Prov 29:25.6). Hypocrisy is living a lie. You portray what you are not to gain acceptability of others. All liars shall Perish. Rev 21:87). Hypocrisy affects others. Jesus judged the Pharisees because they shut the door of the Kingdom against others with their attitude and their hypocrisy would not allow them entry either. Finally, Brethren, let your yes be yes and your no be no, anything short of this is evil says Jesus. Matt 5:37. Stop being a people pleaser and you will overcome the temptation of hypocrisy.
