TEXT:
2Tim 2:19- “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let everyone that calleth the name of Christ depart from Iniquities”
Iniquity is an immoral or grossly unfair behavior. It is confirmed in Isa- 53:6 as gross injustice, wickedness and disobedience to God’s will. The bible says through one man “Adam” sin entered the world, but through our Lord Jesus Christ salvation comes. Rom- 5:15. From our text today, God is telling us to separate ourselves from sin or iniquity. Depart means total separation. Our text is addressed to the people that are named with the Lord Jesus Christ. We must depart from sin; sin must not have dominion over us (Rom- 6:14). Consequences of iniquity; Iniquity defiles us, makes us impure and it opens the door of our lives to the devil. Sin brings God’s judgement and punishment. Prov- 11:21 We reap the fruit of our iniquity if we don’t depart from it. Isaiah 59:2 It produces guilt in us and steals joy. How to Depart from iniquity:
1) Work in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the desire of the flesh Gal-5:16.
2) Resist the devil with the weapon of the word of God and the blood of Jesus.
3) Habitually obey God from your heart.
4) Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, walk in the consciousness of your new birth in Christ Jesus.
5) Delight yourself in His word.
PRAYER POINTS
Lord thank You for the salvation of my soul. Father help me to constantly live in the consciousness of my new spiritual birth in Christ Jesus. Lord break every yoke and the consequence of belittling sin in my life. Sin shall not have dominion over Christlike family. Pray for the servant of God Pst (Mrs.) Odunayo Omotayo Joshua Ketiku she will not fall; The Lord uphold her with His right hand of righteousness in Jesus name. Thank God for answered prayers.
