24TH MARCH.
SCRIPTURE: Phil 3:14
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”.
The word press in the passage above means to pursue or follow. Believers are to actively and passionately press forward and focus on their calling in order to receive a reward. Apostle Paul realizes that he has not attained his potentials in Christ but did not excuse himself even by the difficulty of his calling. He kept focus and pressed towards the mark of his calling. And what is the mark? It is the finishing line a runner strives to get to in order to obtain the prize. Having understood God’s agenda in your higher calling of service to Him, nothing else should count in the race you are running. It should be what God says that counts. Paul doesn’t run for the sake of running; he is intent on getting to the goal line. You are to focus on the finishing line of your calling so you can win and be found worthy to receive the prize at the end. In the course of pressing towards the mark, you must not allow anything to distract or hinder you. The race could be difficult sometimes but keep going. In Luke 9:62, Jesus made us to know that having put our hands on the plough, there is no looking back. We must rather keep focus on our finishing line. Be diligent, and pursue it with all your might. What others do or say is not important. Who praises or recognizes you is not important? God’s recognition is all you need. So, don’t give up, run with endurance and patience the race that is set before you looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith Hebrews 12:2
